Orsoni Venezia 1888’s participation in Biennale Arte 2019 (Venice, May 11 – Nov. 24) is all about craftsmanship and artisan life. As well as the social function of art, sharing the spirit of the exhibition which highlights “a view of art’s social function as embracing both pleasure and critical thinking”.

«The Water Cycle And Life Cycle Are One», Miche and Flora – Touchstones
Curated by Miche and Flora of Touchstones, LIFE OF WATER is a one-day convivial happening that honours the City of Venice. In collaboration with glass-makers, farmers, chefs, activist-researchers and winemakers it offers a taste of the artisan through water, salt and soil.
As part of their research residency in Venice, the two artists encountered people passionate about the city’s diverse cultures of artisan living, and who are campaigning to protect the delicate ecology of Venice. That’s how we met, and we are proud to be involved in this project.
A main role in the performance will be played by a crucible specially created by Orsoni Venezia 1888. As the last historical furnace permitted to operate with fire in Venice, we are convinced that it perfectly exemplifies the link between culture, craftsmanship and the city built on water.
As ‘amici d’acqua’ caring for the life of water, we are all working in ways that respect the essential interconnections between nature and culture. Through convivial and contemplative rituals, LIFE OF WATER is a tribute to the artful, spiritual and political dimensions of ecological living.
After the event, the crucible “melting pot” will be display at the Color Library in the Orsoni Venezia 1888 furnace for the entire duration of the Biennale Arte 2019.
