MASTER IN MOSAIC
Situated in the Angelo Orsoni foundry in Venice, Italy, the Master in Mosaic course “Living the Venice Workshop. History, Theory and Application of Mosaic Art” provides an immersion in the ancient craft of mosaics.
The Master is offered as a 1 and 2 week course and is invaluable for artists, designers, architects and creative individuals interested in acquiring all the theoretical and practical foundations of the ancient art of mosaic. We now offer a 3-day workshop for those with limited time. Two thematic classes (each 2 weeks) are also offered in Micro-mosaic and Portraiture. Portraiture class is limited to 5 participants.
A Master certificate will be awarded upon completion of the 1 and 2 week courses. The Master is also accredited through the International Interior Design Association (course 5086) and participants receive 3.2 Continuing Education units for one week of participation.
Immersed in the magical atmosphere of the Cannaregio furnace and surrounded by the fascination of glass making, students taking part in the Master experience the evocative spirit of the Renaissance art workshop and also have the option of residing in the elegant rooms of Domus Orsoni.
Drawing from the precious legacy of the renown mosaic instructors, the students will discover the secrets of mosaic, its history and its innumerable possibilities of expression. Becoming true key players in the life of the artist’s workshop, the students will experiment with all phases of mosaic art, from witnessing gold leaf mosaic and smalti production in the incandescent furnace, cutting materials with the traditional hammer and hardie, and learning mosaic techniques.
